Cooler Days, Early Nights: Look Of The Moment

I did a somewhat similar design with blue colors months ago using a makeup sponge for a gradient effect. I think it has a rather Autumn flair ;^)

Face...

Besides hair and other stuff, another question I get is about what foundation I wear. Since I don't do makeup tutorials nor do I even wear makeup everyday I don't think I have ever covered this(notice the pun, haha.)

Due to my unusual pinkish-olive undertone, it is impossible for me to get a nice look from one. After years of searching, these two get the job done. In the summer, I slightly tone it down with a bronzer or go bare-face ;^)

Stay In Your Lane...

We're not even on the same interstate so what in the hell are you talking about?

Blogging can be cathartic. How so? Let me show you.

I attend PLENTY of functions; casual, cocktail, black tie, etc. My most recent event... well lets just say it just notary-stamped something I've been very aware of since entering into adulthood & more since living in L.A for 2.5 years. I've notice this "Stay In Your Lane" mentality that certain folks seem to uphold out here like it's some sort of law. I'm sure those of you who follow me here &/or on Youtube are intelligent enough to know what I speak of.

Just like fingerprints, all of us are not the same. We don't look the same, don't have the same taste... you know. Why in the hell are some just so eager to have these monolithic boxes/slots to place us in? Don't fit in one, then you are a problem:

You will be stared at.
You will be treated like some alien.
You will not be shown respect.
You're opinionated & don't brown-nose? Uh-oh, you are breaking the law!

To keep this from being a babbling post, I will end it by saying I don't do mammy, jezebel, I'm not trying to assimilate your likeness this is how I naturally look(a flat iron cannot change your race, sorry to those of you who thought so.)

We are just as eclectic as everyone else. Now either get out of my face or I will accelerate more speed to do it for you.

Flexi-Rod Set...

My flexi-rod set on flat ironed hair before upcoming wash day.

As a few of you who saw the video wanted to know how I got it to last an extra day or two, I made slightly loose twist buns in the same format that I did for the flexi-rod set using jumbo bobby pins and covered with a satin bonnet. Just like in the video, use your fingers to divide the sections so that you won't have defined parts & keep the style more "free-flowing". Also, feel free to re-spray with water, setting lotion, apply a holding product of your choice or no product at all.

Vroom, Vroom...

I'll never forget my first crush. I was five years old. He had a sleek n' intimidating presence, intense sound & power. He belong to my Dad's friend....

an orange C3 1980 Corvette! I even got to drive him into the garage with my Dad's help of course.

Since then, Corvettes have always held a place in my heart. Along with Prince, Sheila E, Devo, Wonder Woman & other favorites as a child I had Vette posters on my wall. My Barbie dolls had two, a pink & silver one. Even though I've driven quite a few muscle/sports cars(a few Vettes too) over the years I was finally able to treat myself to an early Xmas present November 2007; a torch red C5 2004 Corvette just for me!

Just like any relationship, we have our ups & downs. He gets me from point A to B, surprisingly modest with gas at almost 30 miles per gallon, & I even share with the public my love by sporting a rhinestone Corvette bodysuit, t-shirt, keychain and part of my Youtube name; Leo(astrological sign) Body(fitness-minded) C5(Vette model.)

I'd like two more, a patent leather black C6 & silver C3 Corvette.... in a few years from now. At the moment I'm still enjoying this one.

BTW, if I were rich I'd challenge Jay Leno in a Vette collection & road race... just joking ;^)

Glad I Don't Go Through That...

Good for you then. Shut up!

That's my usual sarcastic response to women who down play my cramps that come from the deep brimstone of hell.

Since age twelve I've suffered from horrible menstrual cramps and since I was well informed about womanhood before the big event, I thought "hey, this terrible pain is normal" and pretty much dealt with it until a few years later. At fourteen during a Gyno visit, I was told cramps aren't supposed to be that bad. They weren't supposed to keep you in bed for 3-5 days, cause your thighs to hurt when you walk, nor was skipping cycles but still experiencing pain. All of this so-called "punishment" was due to endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition in which the tissue that behaves like the cells lining the uterus (endometrium) grows in other areas of the body, causing pain, irregular bleeding, and possible infertility. Usually hereditary.

Fast forward some years later and two endoscopy endometrium ablations, I still deal with the debilitating but not as bad pain, fortunately I'm not bearing but have no kids out of choice and have learn to adjust through exercise, diet, limiting stress & a great OBGYN.

But when the going gets tough, I sit everything aside & give in to a heating pad(doing this as I'm currently typing) and some really good sleep.

My Motivation....

Just like tons of other people, I need certain things to keep me motivated.

Music, experiences, reaching for my goals, etc....

A picture or two of Saryn Muldrow & Cory Everson doesn't hurt either.

Let's move it!

Just Hair....

Well, since I'm no longer on fotki & I was horrible at keeping it up to date I decided to take some very recent photos showing my current length while it's pressed.

-I'm a no relaxer, no texturizer natural. I do color my hair. I LOVE jet black hair!
-My hair growth is average. Sometimes I retain most of my length, sometimes it get snipped off.
-According to my body proportions as you can see it is hip length, very back tailbone & my former bangs are waist length.
-My hair type... I call it wavy/curly/big. More big "S" waves with a few big spirals towards the front. My strands are a bit silky yet thick. As for that "chart" I fall into the 3b/c with 2b in the very back. I have a combination of my Mother & Father's hair. Case in point, there's a party on my scalp!
-Do I have a length goal? I'd like to reach classic length in 4 years & maintain thereafter.
-My haircare routine & styles are VERY simple. I don't care for keeping my hands in my head too much. I have over 25 videos explaining my hair from maintenance, styling, etc.

Checkout my "All About Hair" playlist from 2009-2011.

On The Grind.....

Powerlifting.... one of the old school meat & potatoes of bodybuilding!

While approaching the weighted barbell on the floor in front of me after doing my squats at the power rack yesterday, I felt so alive & hyped-up. After my whole workout was done, I was completely worn out and in much need of a nap.

Although I'm no stranger to weightlifting, as of lately I've incorporated powerlifting into my leg workouts. Why? First off, they are very effective in increasing strength to the quads, glutes & hamstrings. Second, it works all three areas previously mentioned at the same time & third for women... men too, it ascetically pulls the whole look of the lower body together when combined with squats, leg extentions/curls. Genetically, my legs can handle much heavier weight than my upper body since the women in my Mother's family have wonderfully strong legs. In fact most females are stronger in their lower body than upper which I'm working to equally bring the two together.

I'm pretty sure when a well-known person quoted "no pain, no gain" they came up with this on leg day :^P
